Assignment 1: Location Confirmation

Assignment 1: Location Confirmed

Once our groups were chosen, we confirmed our location. The location we decided on was LAW. LAW also known as Limerick Animal Welfare is a rescue shelter for animals such as dogs, cats, rabbits, horses and many other animals.

As a group we sat down and discussed our decided location. We first distributed roles for each group member:

  • Director - Lorraine
  • Producer-Shannon
  • Camera Operator- Clodagh
  • Sound Director- Joana
A director is a person who is in charged of activity on the day. Lorraine's main role on the day is to
control a films artistic and dramatic aspects while guiding the crew in the fulfilment of that vision.

As producer my main role is to oversee the project from conception to completion. I will work closely with Lorraine and the rest of the crew.

As camera operator, Clodagh's main role is responsible for operating the camera and capturing shots and angles.

And finally, as sound director, Joana role is to search or product sound that is suitable for the shoot.

Next, we researched about our location. we searched through their website and social media pages and contact them to ask for permission to film at the location.

After confirming our permission to visit and film at LAW, as a group we discussed various shots and angles we thinks could work.

As we have limited time, we will scout out the location on the same day as filming. Before we leave to film our location I must ensure that all camera equipment is up to its highest standards and make sure the camera is working perfectly for the day given.

Assignment 1: Location

Assignment 1

Name: Shannon McNamara
KNumber: K00174394
Course: Creative Multimedia Programming
Module: Digital Video

Location: Dock Road, Athlunkard Street, Thomas Street, Skate Park, King John's Castle area.

For assignment 1, I propose the idea of Limerick's street art. Limerick's street art plays a positive impact throughout the city as it allows artist's to showcase their skills while also brightening up the city! The vibrant and colourful areas include: Dock Road, Thomas Street, King John's Castle and Limericks known 'Graffiti Street' located on Athlunkard Street.

To capture this street art, I must take a numerous shots and shot sequences. A shot is a small unit of unbroken recording, while a shot sequence is known as modifying multiple shots to create a cooperative passage. This video will be created using multiple shots. It will be conveyed using closed frames. Closed frames are defined as all graphics will be within the camera frame.

To develop an illusion within the video I will use deep focus. Deep focus will provide sharp detail as the camera has a certain focal point.

When filming it is important to know the shot size. I will use a degree of lens magnification. The magnification will create a feeling of being closer of further away from the shot.
